Since founding Tendril in 2008, we have carefully selected compelling sites throughout the Willamette Valley. This freedom to choose our vineyards and work with a variety of evolving growers allows us to focus on continual improvement and provides our customers with a portfolio that is based on wine style rather than location. We have longstanding relationships with Saffron Fields and Mt. Richmond in Yamhill-Carlton AVA and Clay Court and Carabella in Chehalem Mountains. These growers emphasize minimal intervention and sustainable farming, and open their doors to Tony, who is continually engaged with each site throughout the growing season.

In 2013, we planted Maverick Vineyard, our 19-acre estate site in Yamhill-Carlton and future home of Tendril Wine Cellars. Maverick is home to 10.5 acres of grapes: 4.5 acres of Chardonnay clones 95 and 76; and 6 acres of Pinot Noir planted to 943 and a unique selection of California heritage clones Swan, Calera and Mt. Eden. It is a nontraditional site given its lower elevation and blend of marine and fresh water sediments. While the wines from Maverick are still young, the early results from this special site are very distinctive and exciting. When we do have these vines in production, you’ll find them amongst our wines.
